Mint Sauce
Apart from lamb what else can you bung it on. Personally I love the stuff.

Re: Mint Sauce
I always smarm it on everything on a roast.

Especially cabbage/greens, peas, roast potatoes etc.

Luvely.

Cover the whole roast in it.

Re: Mint Sauce
I have it on all roasts.

I'd always have horseradish or mustard with beef but I always like a little bit of mint sauce on the side.

Re: Mint Sauce
Only lamb nowadays, though used to also stick it on beef when younger as I wasn't keen on the meat.

Love the stuff over runner beans and soggy carrots though when having lamb.

Never fails to give me the shits, so am thinking I have a vinegar problem!!

Sauce, always.

A mint sauce thread is long overdue on here.

What '64 said.

But to sum this post up - As an adult I can bung it on whatever I like. I don't need my hand holding to make that monumental decision.

Mixed with yogurt - great as a dipping sauce.

Re: Mint Sauce
Took my parents to Tomassi's in Southend recently and ordered the lamb roast.

The lamb was average (generally excellent in there, so I was unlucky with the meat), but what I liked is they bought me an entire saucer of mint sauce. Enough for a whole family and I was the only one eating it.

Nothing worse than the tight fuckers who bring our a fimble of it and you have to ask for more.

Re: Mint Sauce
Love the stuff, especially on roast spuds.

Love the fact that you just keep topping up the jar with vinegar and it lasts for years and gets better and better.

Re: Mint Sauce
As a kid I used to love it on cheese-on-toast/Welsh Rarebit. Never actually done it again since leaving home probably for no other reason than having none in the house.

Think it's a "kid" thing though - marrying my experiences as a young'n with that of bringing up 3 - it's most definitely something my kids would have relished, given the chance.

Re: Mint Sauce
Add it to natural yoghurt, smooth mango chutney, sugar and turmeric, water down with drop of milk if too thick and you have takewaway Indian mint sauce.
